Biography

Having previously spent the final two years of his playing career at Gayfield, and being assistant manager to Jimmy Bone, it was Young who stepped up to replace him in December 1986. During his two and a half seasons in charge Young struggled to progress the Lichties into the upper half and he was sacked at the end of the 89-90 season.

Of course, John Young returned to the club in March 2016 as a coach, nearly 26 years after his previous departure!
