Biography
After Dave Baikie's departure, John Brownlie was the man appointed as manager at Gayfield. The experieced former defender, who spent most of his career with Hibs and Newcastle, joined the Lichties after spells as manager of Cowdenbeath, Meadowbank and East Stirlingshire.
Having taken control with the team in 5th position, Brownlie started poorly but a superb second half to the season led to the club winning promotion on the second last day at home to Berwick. He then led the club to one of their best finishers in decades, 7th in the Scottish First Division, before a dismal 02-03 season saw us finish dead bottom and Brownlie resigned in the early stages of the 03-04 season.
