Biography

Wilkie played locally for Parkhead and was signed in the summer of 1914. He played with the club up until mid January 1915 but only managed one further game due to his duties serving in the 5th Black Watch during WW1.

While at Gayfield, Wilkie often played under the assumed name of 'J W Brown'. Around half of his appearances were under this name, but regardless of pseudonym he was a regular scorer, hitting 14 goals in 21 games.

During the war, with no competitive league football played for several years by the club, Wilkie featured for Dundee Hibs and he continued there after the end of WW1, featuring with the Tannadice side up until the end of the 1921-22 season.
