Biography

Farquhar played locally with Keltic during WW1 and he began to feature for ourselves in the post war friendlies in spring 1919 and his impressive performances at inside left resulted in Harry being signed up professionally in mid May 1919. After establishing himself as a regular at either inside or outside left, he rarely missed a game during his first 6 seasons with the club, and his committment to the club saw him given a benefit match against Celtic on 21st September 1925.

He continued to feature in almost every game up until the 1928-29 season when a knee injury picked up in late November saw him feature on just three further occaisions and that summer he underwent a knee operation and he was back on form the following season until another injury saw missed miss almost all of February and March 1930 as well as a further 6 weeks out in autumn of the following campaign.

With questions being raised about his injury problems, he managed to get back into the team and played almost every game in the second half of the 1930-31 season, and again was an almost ever present the following campaign. During the 1932-33 season, Harry began to feature in a more withdrawn role at wing back, usually on the right hand side and between 1932 and 1934 he played the majority of his games in the midfield as well as occaisionally featuring in his favoured left wing position.

Early on in the 1934-35 campaign, he picked up an injury during a game against St. Bernards, and this was unfortunately the beginning of the end for his time at Gayfield. The injury kept him out until late December, and after featuring in several games around the New Year he dropped out of the team again and never regained his place. After promotion to the First Division at the end of the season, Farquhar left the club that summer after 16 seasons of service to the club.
