Bobby was signed in the mid-June 1937, having been given a free transfer by Partick Thistle after spending around 18 months at Firhill. He slotted into our forward line as a regular outside forward, predominately featuring on the left-hand side, and in his first season he only missed a handful of games. During WW2, he was given permission to turn out for Hearts in three different spells while home on leave as well as playing three games for Dunfermline Athletic. He's also recorded as playing in Palestine while in the British Army, and upon his return to the country in January 1946 he again played for us up until the end of the season at which point he was released by new manager Arch Anderson. He went on to join Forfar Athletic early in the following campaign.
