Tommy Yule

Tommy was signed from Beith Juniors in early-January 1973, the winger having played two impressive games for the reserves as a trialist, and he spent the rest of the 1972-73 season playing regularly for our A team. The following season he made three starts in the League Cup games and featured as a substitute for the first few months of the campaign before dropping down to again play regularly for the A team. After only one first team appearance as a substitute in a year, Tommy came back into the first team in October 1974, and he won himself a regular place in the team for the rest of the campaign.

Over the next five seasons, Tommy continued to play regularly, if not starting, coming off the bench, and the winger became a real fans favourite. Following the appointment of Ian Stewart in January 1980, Tommy began to start less games and in February 1981 he made a transfer request due to wanting to play for a club closer to his home in the West of Scotland. He stayed at Gayfield, playing over 30 games during the 1981-82 season, but he again made a further transfer request at the end of the campaign and in mid-October 1982 he was sold to Airdrieonians for a fee of £10,000.
