In his first two seasons at Gayfield, Steve was a regular either off the bench or starting. The appointment of Ian Stewart in January 1980 saw Steve’s game time decrease before a bad ankle injury sustained at the end of the 1980-81 campaign meant he was unable to feature at all the following season and he was given a free transfer in May 1982 and gave up playing due to doctors advise.
