Cammy Murray

Cammy spent a decade with St. Mirren, making his debut in August 1962 and missing just two games from then until his departure to Motherwell in 1972. He spent a single season with the Lanarkshire side, struggling to cement himself in their first 11 before being released and being signed up by Albert Henderson in July 1973 to replace the outgoing Ernie Winchester.

He immediately became part of our starting line-up, where he would remain for nearly five seasons, featuring in several positions in the defence and midfield, before falling out of the team in the latter stages of the 1977-78 season. He left the club at the end of the campaign and retired from playing, returning to former club Motherwell in a coaching role.

Several months after his departure, Cammy returned to feature in maroon in a joint testimonial held for himself and Gordon Marshall against Aberdeen in October 1978, as well as returning once again for Tam Cargill’s testimonial against the same club in March 1980.
