Eric Sellars

Eric was initially given a trial in a friendly against Clachnacuddin in April 1966 while a Carnoustie Panmure player, and he was provisionally signed the following month by manager Albert Henderson. The following season he was called up in early October to play a Division Two game away to Alloa Athletic and after impressing he kept his place in the team, featuring on the right win in every league game bar one for the rest of the campaign.

Over the following nine seasons, Eric was a regular in the team for most of the time, never making less than 25 appearances in a season, and during the 1972-73 and 1973-74 seasons he featured in every league game. While normally a feature on the right wing, he also had spells playing on the left as well as filling in all the other forward positions when required. The 1973-74 seasons was a particularly excellent one for Eric, with his 34 league games returning 21 league goals as we finished 13th in the top division.

During the 1975-76 season, Eric began to feature slightly less due to the emergency of John Mitchell and John Fletcher, and at the end of the campaign he was given a free transfer. He would go on to sign for St. Johnstone in August 1976 before spending time with Brechin City prior to ending his playing career with Arbroath Vics.
