Buchan was signed in the summer of 1971 after impressing with Stonehaven and he spent four seasons at the club, predominately featuring for the reserve team, but he did make close to 50 first team appearances during his time at Gayfield. He left at the end of the 1974-75 season and went on to sign with Buckie Thistle.
