Biography

Skea made his debut for the club on the 26th of May 1888 in an end of season friendly against Dundee Wanderers, aged just 17. The following season, Skea quickly established himself as a regular. and played in both the Forfarshire Charity Cup and Forfarshire Cup finals, of which both were won.

Skea continued playing reguarly over the next few seasons at Gayfield and by the time the Northern League was formed in 1891, Skea was a key man in the team. He excelled throughout the season, being picked for international trial matches for Scotland and with several clubs watching it ended up being Aston Villa that Skea signed for in the summer of 1892.

Skea struggled in Birmingham, making just one appearance for Villa in the 9 months he spent there. He returned north briefly to play for Dundee Thistle before going back to England and playing for Darwen and Bury briefly before settling at Leicester Fosse. In his first season for Fosse (who later became Leicester City), Skea was the top scorer in the English Second Division.

In the final years of his career he featured in the Southern League for Swindon Town and New Brompton (later renamed Gillingham).
