Biography

Barry, son of Eric who is a hall of fame inductee at Gayfield, was signed during 1997-98 season from Forfar West End however he still spent the majority of the season back on loan there. Prior to playing for Forfar West End, he had been part of Rangers youth teams and had a spell at Gayfield in our youth team before moving to Arbroath Vics. When he did fully break into the first team at Gayfield in the 1998-99 season, he was mainly used at right wing back before being given more opportunities in central midfield the following season.

Sellars moved on to Clyde in the summer of 2000 but returned to Gayfield from Forfar in the summer of 2006 and spent another 3 and a half years at the club, featuring mainly in central midfield for the team.

    Halloween is now over, Bonfire night has come and gone (well in most places apart from Stoney who are having their’s tonight), the Stoney under 14’s beat Portlethen under 14’s last Sunday (Martin was Stoney’s midfield maestro until he had to go off injured in the second half and after that David set up Portlethen’s consolation goal in their 3-1 defeat by the Stoney lads - the Turnip Times gave Martin credit for two goals though, I think, he only scored one). After a week of sunshine, snow on the roads and now winds it is back to our least favourite ground of last season, Recreation Park, where we got well gubbed on both our visits. This season the Wasps visited Gayfield well fired up and thrashed us 2 nil (thank God I was on holiday then). Rumour has it that there will be a bit going and coming of players over the next few weeks (I am having a hell of a job finding a player for the Web to sponsor who will still be here at the end of this season!).
