November 22nd, 2003
Hamilton Academical 2 - 0 Arbroath
Scottish League (Second Division)
Iain was born on this date in Glasgow.
Accies continued their recent return to form with a richly deserved win against a poor Arbroath side. Manager Allan Maitland brought all of the "Forfar Three" back into the team, which meant that there was no place in the starting lineup for Ciaran Donnelly, Mark Corcoran and Barry Forbes.

OVERALL : Crowd of 400-450, including 50-75 Airdrie fans, saw calm weather conditions allow a hard fought & highly entertaining game. The Lichties defence stood up well and Peat produced several great saves, including an Owen Coyle penalty. McGlashan marshalled the midfield well, which included the welcome return of Cusick. Swankie & Diack both had excellent games up-front – with the latter not only scoring on his home debut, but also hitting the post. 2nd time I’ve seen AFC vs Airdrie this season and 2nd time I’ve felt we deserved to come away with more than we did. That said, it was a mid-week draw against full time promotion hopefuls. Thank you lads for what was a great effort, a good result and excellent entertainment.
Alloa fought back from 2-0 down but a ninth straight game without a win means they are still not safe from relegation.
Dumbarton condemned the visitors to the drop with a late rush of goals.
