  • Signed For Arbroath

  • The euphoria of the weekend win at Dingwall was dampened due to the overcast conditions encountered on route to Falkirk as compared with the glorious sunshine (and sun tans) at Dingwall. Having crossed the Kincardine bridge I was treated to a new experience in the Falkirk area, I was able to follow the Football signposts to guide me towards Brockville rather than, in the past, try to find Ochilview and Firs park with no guidance. Having found the stadium I parked outside the away gate (it was freezing so the lucky away strip from Saturday was replaced with a thick jersey and anorak) and headed for a pint and chips prior to returning to the ground where I found the away end was closed and we were being routed to the North end of the stand. Timing was great as a group of Lichtie fans were being escorted through a door as there had been a cock-up with the comps - I tried to join them but was spotted and ejected but, lucky for me, Mrs. McA gave me one of her tickets so no adverse comments about John tonight.

  • It was a glorious, sunny and warn day on the way to Gayfield. Which hopefully will mean perfect playing conditions. Ross Co. arrived full of confidence after beating Dundee on Tuesday. But after the gubbing the ‘Dee got from Aberdeen, surely anyone could beat them? The papers said that Mallan and Mercer were out. Rumours were that Heenan may start and that Swankie would be in the squad. Ross Co. reputedly has some players struggling for the match, we’ll see. My pre-match concern was that Brownlie might opt for a 4-4-2, which did get us our opening day victory against County, but also led to the thrashings from all and sundry subsequently. Stick with 4-5-1 John! It’s dull but effective. Fortunately he did, in fact the team was almost identical as that against St Mirren, except that McKinnon replaced Cusick in midfield. Arbuckle replaced Mercer on the bench, which had no room for Swankie?

  • OVERALL : Large midweek crowd, included lots of local kids and a healthy contingent of travelling Lichties. Conditions were calm & clear but cold. First half saw lively performances from both teams, with Lichties just edging it. Second half saw AFC take control and run-out victorious, despite Diack’s straight red sending off for raising his hands at an opponent – rash, needless & foolish act which deserves little pity, especially as he was lucky not to have been sent off against Hamilton for kicking out in a similar situation. Crowd chat highlights included seeing Hinchie there, with his lovely young lady in tow, plus almost fell off my site when a Warriors fan said that they hoped to be getting John Brownlie as their manager next season !

  • Last Appearance - Arbroath 0 - 3 Dumbarton

Dumbarton boosted their promotion hopes with a stunning victory.
