  • It is just one day under three months since we played our last game of last season and it was against today's visitors the mighty Maryhill Magyars. We ran out worthy 3-2 winners then with Scot Peters, Barry Sellars and Paul Brownlie scoring the goals. Barry's goal turned out to be his last for the club scored in his last appearance for the Lichties as he joined Clyde's "Juniors" over the summer.

  • There is a God, and he likes haddock. Saturday saw Arbroath take a huge step towards first division security with an excellent win over full time Falkirk, exacting revenge for the defeat at Brockville in December. We had brought along a decent crowd, but when you consider that about 4 years ago we brought over 1000 to East Stirling when going for promotion from Div 3, sense of scale seems to be wrong. Also with me, and the reason for the late report was Euan’s stag night, missing Arbroath born future father in law, Rev. Petrie where art thou?

  • Last Appearance - Arbroath 1 - 1 Ross County

It was another glorious April Saturday as I headed down to Gayfield to watch my last Lichties match of the season prior to heading back up to the Northern Isles. After last Saturday's insipid performance followed by the one nil defeat by Montrose in the Forfarshire Cup, albeit we had only one first team regular playing whilst they had their full team, I was not in a confident mood. In fact, taking into consideration tour visitors recent good form, unbeaten in 12 matches and scoring goals freely, I was fearing the worst. The news in the papers (and from an insider on the guest book) was that Tait was fit for the match as was Flo, Moffat and Cusick. However, with John McGlashan returning after suspension and Graham Bayne admitting in last Monday's Courier that they all played like mince last Saturday the players might make amends for last Saturday's performance.
