  • Signed For Arbroath

In his first season he netted 11 times as he helped us win promotion from the Second Division and he followed this up with another 6 goals as he helped the club avoid relegation in the 2001-02 season. In the summer of 2002 Mallan decided to move on to Stirling Albion.

  • It is just one day under three months since we played our last game of last season and it was against today's visitors the mighty Maryhill Magyars. We ran out worthy 3-2 winners then with Scot Peters, Barry Sellars and Paul Brownlie scoring the goals. Barry's goal turned out to be his last for the club scored in his last appearance for the Lichties as he joined Clyde's "Juniors" over the summer.

  • The news in the press before we left for Berwick was that John McGlashan had signed for Arbroath on the Friday night but would not be available for today's match as he was not yet match fit. The fact that John had previously been with the Gayfield Club on-loan seems to have swayed his decision between the Lichties and Forfar. Teletext stated that Arbuckle and King were both injured whilst the Courier announced that Arbuckle was likely to need an exploratory operation on his cartilage and both King and Fotheringham were doubtful.

  • Last Appearance - Arbroath 2 - 0 Clyde

A small but contented band of fans went along to see Arbroath’s final game of the season at a blustery, sunny Gayfield. Both teams were playing for final league position, Clyde were attempting to finish third. We kicked off defending the Harbour end with the wind in our faces with Web and Supporter’s club Player of the Year Hinchcliffe in goal, Tait and Florence as fullbacks, with Ritchie accompanied by young Ewan Graham in the centre of defence. Ewan was to put in a fantastic performance, many fans saying there is no need to bring in central defensive cover. Cusick and McGlashan were in the centre of midfield with Roddie, making his final appearance, on the left and Kevin Heenan on the right, upfront Stevie Mallan was joined by Baby Brownlie, Graham Bayne wasn’t on the bench which included Wight, who had been promised a game last week against Airdrie, Rowe, McAulay, Swankie and Paul Durno.
