Over several seasons and managers, various attempts were made to sign Craig until finally he put pen to paper in early August 1997 after appearing as a trialist during pre-season, his contract with Montrose having expired. The deal involving Roddy Wylie heading to Links Park as compensation and 'Coops' became a popular figure in his time at the club, helping us to promotion from the Third Division in his first season at Gayfield and winning the Web and Supporters Player of the Year trophies in the process. He fell out of manager Dave Baikie's plans after several seasons at the club and moved on to Peterhead in September 2000 alongside Kevin Tindal after an initial loan spell at Balmoor.
