Biography

Bruce was one of our original club members & players, and he also played for and captained Forfarshire during his career at Gayfield.

He was also a keen cricketer who started playing with local club Neptune as a wicketkeeper and he previously played football under the Rugby rules before starting to play for Arbroath.

During his time at Gayfield, he was hailed for his superb heading ability as well as being strong in the tackle and of great judgement.

In 1887 Bruce moved to Andover, Mass, USA, where he worked for a manufacturing firm for 37 years prior to his retirement in 1925. He passed away in 1930.
