George Christie (1875)

Biography

George signed from local junior side Ardenlea in the summer of 1894 and became a prominent fixture in the team during the 1894-95 and 1895-96 seasons, featuring as a centre half, centre forward and as a right half, the position he played in most.

Having established himself quickly in the Arbroath team, he was further picked to represent Forfarshire, and he was also well known in the other local athletic circles.

On April 30th, 1896, he left Arbroath for America alongside friend James Neave, who he worked with at the Dens Iron Works.
